Berdebar-debar

Assalamualaikum dan hai semua

Aku nak masuk blog aku sendiri pun, suspens tau...rasa macam masuk rumah orang, hehehehe..

Nak tau sebab apa aku rasa macam ni? Ramai la yang dok tertanya-tanya awat la aku tak update blog aku nih. Tunggu punya tunggu sampai naik lenguh kaki...hehehehe

ohya! sebelum tu, aku juga tak lupa nak maklumkan bahawa aku tak 'cara' blog aku ni disebabkan sibuk menyiapkan sambungan rumahku yang sekangkang kera tu. dah masuk sebulan lebih masuk dok tak siap sepenuhnya. Aku mengambil kesempatan untuk menghias rumah ikut caraku tersendiri di mana aku menjahit sendiri langsir, tudung meja, alas peti ais dan lain-lain. Hasilnya tak lah cantik, tapi aku puas hati la sebab hasil tangan aku sendiri.

Hot Jobs Alert: Watch Out For Automated Interviewing!

By: Paul Megan

Hot Jobs Alert: according to recent reports, you should get used to the idea that the next person interviewing you won't be a person but a computer!

Companies are not having problems attracting candidates but identifying successful ones. New job search systems can handle thousands of interviews a day, filter out unqualified applicants and rank the rest for hiring managers to review at their convenience.

If you apply for a job and get a card or email back with a phone number and PIN, that's a clue that your next step is automated. Here are some tips:

  1. These are not maddening customer service lines that can upset you. Don't treat them like that.

  2. A negative attitude will hurt you.

  3. Don't handle the interview as if you were talking to a computer. Talk to the hiring manager.

  4. Stay upbeat in your voice quality and the words you choose.

    1. Keep focused on the direct answers to the questions. But then embellish with specific contributions you could make.

Be prepared for questions like, "Senior design engineers can often be difficult to work with. Please tell us about your experiences with them and how you have learned to work effectively with them."

Another type of question may go like this, "You are helping a 4 year old child and their parents pick out shoes. When you try to measure the child's foot, the child gets scared and resists. What would you do?"

No matter what preliminary screening devices are used, no one is going to hire you without meeting you face-to-face. So, when you're in a hot jobs mode, it's important to have all your ducks in a row.

That means you have to know what all your work options are. When you do, you can help shape a job description to fit your preferences.

You'll be amazed at how open employers are to your feedback if you're able to communicate yourself assertively. It's what makes hot jobs HOT!

Changing Jobs? Cover Your Assets!

By: Paul Megan

Over the years we've learned that it's not unusual for Americans to change jobs and even careers several times in the course of a working lifetime.

It's one of the dramatic changes that's occurred in the 21st Century job marketplace. And you need to be prepared for it.

One way, of course, is to have a "failsafe career" that guarantees you're ready in advance for any job or career change that may come your way . . . whether voluntary or involuntary.

Another aspect of job change you should be aware of is to protect your assets when you make your move.
Be sure you take your TAX-SHELTERED 401(k) ASSETS with you.

  • DO NOT make the fatal mistake of cashing out your account when you switch jobs.

  • DO NOT have your organization write you a check that you can immediately turn into cash.

Consider the income taxes and fees you'll pay on the withdrawal. For example, buying a car for $20,000 would require you to remove up to $30,000 from your account. That's $30,000 that won't be accruing interest toward your retirement.

One report states that 50% of job-changers, ages 20 to 29, cashed out instead of rolling over their money to a new account. Workers were more likely to cash out even if the had $500 or less in their 401(k).

Bad idea . . . you're losing money.

Take the opportunity to roll your money into an account with your new employer. Don't leave it with your old employer. Also, consider rolling your 401(k) into an IRA. These accounts have more investment options than an employer's 401(k) program.

Whatever your decision regarding your 401(k) options, remember you have other assets to consider. These are your personal job and career assets you carry with you at all times. They are as valuable as your financial assets. In fact, they're what make your financial assets possible.

Check out our website to discover how to make your personal career assets work for you. Develop them properly and they'll guarantee your financial assets and your success in the job marketplace!

Retirement Jobs: Good News for Older Workers!

By: Paul Megan

According to AARP, the mature work force is one of our greatest national assets.

Two important trends are making a big difference in today's work force.

  1. More and more people are expressing a desire to continue working later in life well past the normal retirement age.

    1. Boomers are starting to turn 60 this year. Many of them are taking advantage of early retirement or looking to make other shifts in their careers. As a result, some industry sectors are experiencing labor shortages. Retiring workers often take with them irreplaceable institutional knowledge and experience.

Increasingly, companies are viewing older employees as a solution to their workforce needs. Many are developing effective strategies for appealing to older workers.

This coincides with the major reasons for working in retirement (according to research by AARP):

--need the money (61%)

--desire to stay mentally active (54%)

--need the health benefits (52%)

--desire to stay physically active (49%)

--desire to remain productive or useful (47%)

Older workers offer a potentially attractive solution to both short- and long-term staffing challenges. Making use of this growing pool of talent, of the collective experience and knowledge of veteran workers, is sound business--a plus for employers and employees alike.

So, what should you do if you're at the point where you're entertaining retirement employment? Here are three important preliminary steps:

  1. Take the time to explore all your options. This is the time in your life to think outside the box.

  2. Identify a variety of desirable employment opportunities. Don't think only in terms of your resume.

  3. Get introduced to decision-makers in those opportunities to discover firsthand what's going on. Those non-interview, informal discussions can lead to job offers.

The final good news is that there is a proven system that can walk you through the job search process step-by-step and have you entertaining your next job in a matter of days. Turn your job search into the career adventure of a lifetime!
